Too difficult probability problems on final exam

12/5/2025

- Charles (2025/2026 Semester 1)

The workload is okay, not too heavy. But what pissed me off was that while I was so prepared for the final exam, I even did all the problems like automatically bc I had practiced these so much, I could only solve 80% of the final exam. BECAUSE the rest of the exam was some kind of logic questions. These probability problems were not standard. I suggest you include a heavier workload, more topics, but easier, standard problems, that I CAN ACTUALLY PRACTICE FOR.

Good course. Attendance not taken. Charles is fun and helpful. If you study you get good grade. Not curved afaik. Very competitive though, many mainlanders get perfect grades in midterms. Workload is manageable

The lecturer might not be the most effective teacher, but he is not bad. The course content will be quite manageable if you took extended math covering calculus in high school. Statistics helps a bit as well, but I don’t think it’s the main focus here. There is sufficient time for assignments and webwork. Having two midterms could be a boon or a bane. There are adequate past paper resources. The exam papers are mostly similar to past ones, so if you work hard enough to go through all of them or if you manage to nail one, you will be fine. No attendance taken for either tutorials and lectures.
